Frequently asked questions

Tanzania can generally be visited throughout the year depending on where one intends to visit, however the best times are during the dry season during the months of January to March, June to Mid-October. The short rains happen in Mid-October to December. For photographers the month of April and May can be quite astonishing.

These are often referred to us the greatest show on earth and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Every year, over a million wildebeest thunder across the plains of the Serengeti and Masai Mara in a never-ending cycle. The Wildebeest Migration doesn’t have a simple start or end; just an amazing cycle of wild movement through the year and It’s never the same each year either. This is never predictable but easy enough to witness if you plan around some key points.

From November to December the wildebeest move from Maasai Mara to the plains of Southern Tanzania and the Ndutu Forest. In January and February, they are in the Ndutu plains of South Serengeti, February and March is the calving time. From April to June they move groups some going through the Maswa  Swamp towards western Serengeti others to central and eastern Serengeti, they all then meet in North Serengeti for the spectacular and dangerous Mara River Crossing.
